Greater Western Sydney Giants by 3
Alright, gear up for this AFL showdown folks... Oops. Sorry. Moving right along.
Our two gladiators today are the Greater Western Sydney Giants and the Gold Coast Suns. The Giants have held the upper hand against the Suns in the recent past, and if history repeats - like an annoying song stuck in your head - they might edge them out once again. Last season’s matchups showed the Suns tasting the proverbial dust more often with deficits ranging from 40 to 17.
Delving in a bit, the Sun's have a slightly better record this season than the Giants, sitting pretty at an 8-4 compared to the Giant's 8-6. That said, remember before your granny's pearls were in a twist, records aren't everything, and theirs isn't shiny enough to dazzle anyone.
In regards to recent form, the Suns look like they've been getting a tan under the cloudy weather, struggling with recent losses against Geelong and Fremantle. Though they managed wins earlier, their performance is dicey at best. The Giants, on the other hand, have claimed some fine victories against Brisbane and Carlton, albeit with a hiccup against Port Adelaide. Ah, well, nobody’s perfect.
In the standings, both teams are the eighth wonder of the world with Gold Coast holding the 7th spot and the Giants clutching the 8th. Neck in neck, folks, tighter than a botox smile.
So, coming right down to it, considering the historical dominance of the Giants, their better recent results, and throw in some eucalyptus magic for good measure, I'd bet a shrimp on the barbie that the Giants will walk away with this one.
