Collingwood Magpies by 31
As I gaze upon this matchup, the Collingwood Magpies and the St Kilda Saints, I'm slightly amused. Our feathered friends in black and white strut in straddling a mighty 11-2 regular season record, while the Saints need divine intervention with a holy moley 5-8.
The strength of the Magpies is not just in their opponent-crushing record. No, it’s reflected in the consistency they've shown on the ground. Let’s bear in mind, they narrowly escaped Melbourne's clutches with a 72 to 71 victory recently. But, we all know that a win is a win, even if one eye was on the clock.
The Saints on the other hand, they’re having what one might call...a season. To say they have been impressing would be like saying the Titanic had a slight mishap with an ice cube. Their performance has been sinking faster than my interest in low-carb diets, especially after that 132 to 60 walloping by Western. What's that old saying? "When it rains, it pours."
Looking back at previous face-offs, we have two teams that could give Romeo and Juliet a run for their money. Contests tighter than a hipster’s jeans. The Saints have shown they can bring down the Magpies, given they bested them on Thu Mar 21, 2024. However, Collingwood took revenge in the subsequent meet. Talk about drama.
So, considering we are deep into round 15, and the end of the season is becoming more real than my Aunt Celia's dreadful fruitcake, suffice to say it's crunch time.
Taking all this into account, namely recent performances, the positions in the AFL 2025 standings and celestial alignments, it’s clear as gin at 10 AM, where I see this one heading.
