Golden State Valkyries by 10
Dive right into this. The Connecticut Sun seems to have forgotten the fundamentals of putting the ball into the hoop with a dismal 2-11 run this regular season. Ouch, talk about sunburn. To light some cold comfort for them, Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles have been playing like they're trying to single-handedly reverse climate change, pulling in 15 and 16 points per game, respectively. Notably, Mabrey racked up these numbers last month, so she's hitting her stride right about now.
On the flip side, the Golden State Valkyries have enjoyed a seesaw season--not great, but not a disaster like the Sun, eking out a balanced 6-6. Kayla Thornton and Veronica Burton have been doing most of the heavy lifting with their solid 15 and 11 points per game averages. Let's not overlook Thornton's haul of close to eight rebounds from their recent games.
The Sun's been in a festival of losses recently, which is like the opposite of winning. Oh and if that 104-67 loss against Washington Mystics wasn't a “Got Milk?” advertisement for defense, I don’t know what is.
On the other hand, the Valkyries have been resolute to say the least, most recently repelling the Indiana Fever at 88-77. If you're the Fever, that's got to hurt more than actual fever.
We see the Sun languishing down at number 13 in the league (lucky for some, not so much for others), while the Valkyries are sitting much prettier at #6 like they own a very colossal ladder. For those fancying a wager, it’s like comparing picking a fight with a kitten to taking on a pride of hungry lions in a steakhouse.
Here comes the thunder:
