My Prediction
La Rochelle by 3Looking at the matchup between La Rochelle and Montpellier, all we've got to say is if you're fond of roller-coasters, you're in for a treat. Their history's got more back-and-forths than my cousin's failed attempts at dieting. The pendulum of victory swings wildly in every contest where these two titans meet, and round 24 of this high-voltage season promises nothing less.
Much like my Aunt Tilda's birthday bashes, past encounters between La Rochelle and Montpellier have kept party crashers on their toes. From Montpellier's 16-0 clean sweep to La Rochelle's tight-lipped 18-10 comeback, we've seen all the drama unfold.
On the surface, La Rochelle seems the horse you'd want to hitch your wager wagon to. Case in point; their recent victories against Bordeaux Bègles, Bayonne, and that nail-biter against Vannes. But don’t get too excited. Their record of win-loss tie at 11-11-1 doesn't make them the Usain Bolt of this race.
Now before you direct sympathy cards Montpellier's way, hold your horses. Montpellier isn't lounging around sipping iced tea either, having clocked a decent 11-12 regular season record.
Here's the fun part, folks. Contrary to my ex's belief, position in life does matter. Montpellier at #6 and La Rochelle at #8 isn’t just good 'ol trivia, it’s a testament to their performances, or lack thereof, throughout this whirlwind season.
To cut the long story short, La Rochelle might just be the favored bunch, but doesn't mean Montpellier won't put up a fight, just like I did against my twin in kindergarten. My prediction? While La Rochelle may not be rolling in clover, they’re the safer bet here, with a modest winning margin.
