Napoli by 1My dear fellow football addicts, slither on down, it's game time as Napoli squares off against Fiorentina. In the vicious net-minding department, for Fiorentina, we've got David De Gea, who's been tighter than a hipster’s skinny jeans, boasting an incredible 7.02 rating with 16 saves. And for Napoli, between the sticks is Alex Meret, rocking a 6.55 rating and 8 saves. Not half bad but well...there's always room for improvement, eh Alex?
Speaking of top performers, Napoli is packing some heat. Big boys like David Neres with an impressive 7.30 rating and a nearly telepathic accurate pass percentage and Giacomo Raspadori. The man scored twice last month without even breaking a sweat. Then there's Philip Billing, who knows his way around the net with 1 goal to his credit.
But not so fast Napoli, Fiorentina isn't tiptoeing in here. With Luca Ranieri, a player with a keen eye on target, paving the way and Moise Kean making his mark too, they're certainly no pushovers. Fabiano Parisi's pass percentage is a thing of beauty, but that alone isn’t going to cut the mustard.
When it comes to previous encounters, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag with Napoli, getting the upper hand most recently, but Fiorentina showed them they weren’t just ice cream vendors on a few occasions too. Now, despite Napoli’s commendable 17-6-4 regular season record besting Fiorentina’s 13-6-8, both teams have had a less than rosy run in recent matches which suggests they have been doing more napping than scoring.
Therefore, lacing up all these delectable tidbits, if Napoli can tighten their bootlaces and take advantage of Fiorentina's less than stellar form, the Neapolitans could make it a triumphant day in Italy. Or if Fiorentina can tap dance on Napoli's toes, we might see an upset. But remember folks, there's more chance of spotting Yeti than predicting a spot-on result in this wacky world we call football.
