One could almost hear the icicles forming down in Minnesota, as we're ready to dive into what promises to be a tantalizing face-off between the mighty Frost and the Sirens singing their perilous song from the Big Apple. The Sirens have a recent history of breaking the ice with the Frost; the scoreboard's been in their favor more often than not, and they seem to march to the rhythm of their own drum...rather haphazardly, but still.
Yet, one could argue Minnesota has been navigating the regular season with an extra coat, I'd wager. They've got one more victory than our melodious New Yorkers, lessening the Frost's bite.
That said, the Sirens have sirened (may I use that as a verb? Well, I just did), showing their claws in recent games. They bit the Montreal Victoire and Ottawa Charge hard, giving them a freezing reminder of the dominance they're capable of. Even the Frost felt the chill in mid-March. On the colder side, the Frost have been fluctuating like a spring weather forecast, picking up a big win against the Toronto Sceptres but losing their grip in their battles with Montreal Victoire and, of course, the Sirens themselves.
Taking all the blizzardy chaos into account, it feels like the Sirens may have the upper hand. Or the upper stick, to be more proper, but let's not get too technical now. The Sirens' song seems to lull the Frost into a wintry sleep more often than not, and with their recent show of fangs, I won't be too shocked if they leave Minnesota a tad frostbitten. But if I was a betting man, which clearly I'm not, I'd keep an eye on the payout...Oh wait, I didn't say that.
So here goes, brace yourselves, Albert's Prediction: New York Sirens by 2
