Scottie Scheffler by 2 strokes
In the sunny state of Connecticut lies the TPC River Highlands, where competitors are battling it out in the Travelers Championship. At present, we have Scottie Scheffler and Austin Eckroat leading the pack, finding themselves comfortably situated at 8 under par. Ranking 1st and 73rd respectively, both will need their A-game to stave off the competition. If we toss in their last performances, Scheffler finished 7th in the U.S. Open and Eckroat was seen receding into 57th place at the Memorial Tournament.
A shot or two behind the leaders sit Keegan Bradley, Wyndham Clark, and Rory McIlroy. All three players are tied at 6 under par. Bradley and Clark are both solid picks, with recent finishes in the 33rd and missing the cut at the U.S. Open respectively. However, if you're one for safe bets, Rory McIlroy, with his impressive 2nd tour ranking and recent 19th place U.S. Open finish, might be your man going forward.
Blowing off the dust from the last year's leaderboard, we find Scottie Scheffler sitting top again with a total score of 22 under par. So, it appears he has a penchant for the Connecticut green. Tom Kim trailed right after him, matching Scottie's score of -22. Sungjae Im and Tom Hoge, who finished on the third spot with -20, were not too far behind.
As for my prediction? We might just see a repeat of history here. Good old Scottie Scheffler seems to have a knack for this course, holding the pole position right now and being the defending champion.
