David Skinns by 3 strokes
Pass me the peanuts folks, because we're right smack in the middle of a golf circus at the Sanderson Farms Championship in lovely Atlanta, Georgia. After one round, a few players are lighting up East Lake Golf Club like it's a Christmas tree in Times Square.
Presently, we have delightful David Skinns, a 143rd ranked toothfairy on the tour, sitting at an impressive 12 under par. His recent performance would make you think he mistook the golf club for a butter knife, finishing a dismal 44th at the Procore Championship. Everybody loves an underdog story, and Skinns is writing a pretty sweet one.
Sneaking behind in second place is none other than wonderkid Michael Thorbjornsen, three strokes behind at 9 under. His recent form has been as exciting as watching paint dry, finishing 50th at the Procore. On the upside, his name just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
Tying for third place, we have Ben Griffin and Gary Woodland, both sitting comfortably at 8 under. Now Griffin's recent form makes Mr. Thorbjornsen look like an adrenaline junkie, as he finished 50th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. On the other hand, Woodland couldn't even make it to the weekend at the Procore Championship, yikes!
The leaderboard is as crammed as a New York subway at rush hour, with a cluster of players - including Mackenzie Hughes, Beau Hossler, and Lucas Glover at 7 under par.
Now, put on your betting hats and let's dive into the juicy stuff. David Skinns seems to have found his swing and if he continues on this trajectory, he's the man to beat. Let's hope he doesn't start slicing like he’s working at a deli counter. And watch out for my wildcard pick, Michael Thorbjornsen. He maintained a steady game to sneak into second, and he could easily swoop in for the win if Skinns trips at the finish line.
Albert’s Prediction: David Skinns by 3 strokes.
