Canberra Raiders by 8Here we go again, ladies and gentlemen, with the ever-entertaining and unpredictably exciting matchup of the Newcastle Knights and Canberra Raiders. For those not keeping score at home, the Raiders are enjoying a stellar season, currently sitting pretty at the #2 position in the NRL Premiership rankings. Their 12-3 record looks formidable when juxtaposed with the Knights' rather underwhelming bout of 6 wins and 9 losses.
Looking back to the 2024 face-off, it's yesterday's news that the Raiders were left seeing stars, humbled by a Knightly 16-12 victory. Ah, but let us not be prisoners of the moment, shall we? Since that shocker in July, Canberra has roared back, and let me tell you, they haven't been merely 'raiding,' they've been conquering.
In recent battles, Raiders have left the opposition gasping for breath, winning their last five games and amassing quite some impressive scores I must say. On the other hand, Knights have been hanging onto the cliff by the skin of their teeth, securing just 3 victories in their past 5 matches, with their knights often ending up looking more like rooks, if you know what I mean.
It's Round 17 folks, not that numbers mean much in this topsy-turvy showdown. The Knights might have an advantage in terms of the head-to-head count in recent meetings. However, as I usually say, history is for memorials. On the field, it's the form that counts, and given Raiders' sharp ascent in the ranks, they do seem a bit too strong for the Knights.
But hey, who can predict this beautiful chaos we call rugby? For the daring few willing to place a wager on this spectacle, my uncanny sixth sense whispers this.
