Oh, strap yourselves in for a thrilling contest as the Melbourne Storm slug it out against the North Queensland Cowboys. These two squads have a history of big games and my, oh my, do they know how to put on a show. This little rendezvous will come in round 14, pleasantly tucked in the middle of the regular season. Plenty of room for drama, I'd say.
Our friends from North Queensland, the Cowboys, have had a fairly middle-of-the-road campaign so far. We're looking at a 5-5-1 record and some recent mixed bags of results that keep the fans guessing. I suppose inconsistency is a flavour they enjoy up north. They're also at spot 6 in the rankings which implies they have had their paddings handed to them a few times this season. But let's not forget those epic clashes from the past with the Storm where they've had the upper hand.
Now, on to the Melbourne Storm, basking in the sunshine of their recent performances. Despite a couple of mishaps, they've got a 7-4 record, and seem to be enjoying the view from spot 4 in the NRL standings. Their recent string of wins tells me they've found a way to keep their score ticking faster than a caffeine-addled accountant.
The Storm, although they seem to have a knack for drawing the short straw against the Cowboys historically, are looking much stronger this time around. They've got the thunder, the lightning and the catastrophic weather conditions in their favour (if you get my drift).
Given the current dynamics, my money would be on a Storm surge with just enough horsepower to surpass that ominously looming 14.5 point spread.
