Hanshin Tigers by 2Peek at that stage folks-- pardon me, I mean esteemed listeners, we are looking into an interesting matchup right here. The Hanshin Tigers are prancing in their den, waiting to face the Yomiuri Giants. A bit of a run-down our memory lane reveals a string of sweaty browed showdowns between these two teams. Quite a back and forth going on, like a pendulum that forgot how to stop. But recent encounters outline a slightly shaded edge towards the Tigers, getting their paws on more victories of late than our Giants.
When it comes to regular season records, it's like seeing double - just a whisker away difference in win-loss records. 12-8 for the Tigers and a just-behind 12-9 for the Giants. Somebody make a movie about this! If I may, I'd give the title as, "Battlefield Nippon".
Coming down to the recent performances, Yomiuri Giants were found occasionally stumbling, while still pulling out a couple of victorious limps against the likes of Chunichi Dragons and Tokyo Yakult Swallows. On the other hand, the pinstripe-clad Tigers, rambling through the symbol-crested BayStars and Carp, have been performing like someone lit a fire in their tails.
Taking all this into account, and avoiding my usual affinity for a nail-biting tie, I'd bet my poor humor sense on seeing the Tigers painting the town stripes this time around. And because numbers are fun, let's throw in a margin there.
