Oh boy, get out your calculators and lucky rabbit's feet folks, we're in for a doozy with this matchup. The Tokyo Yakult Swallows are off to Navi Stadium to cross bats with the Chunichi Dragons in what promises to be a tango of can't-hit and might-pitch.
The Swallows seem to miss a step every other game, struggling to hold onto a 6-10 record, while the Dragons are barely doing any better at 8-10. Come on boys, if you're going to play like that, at least make it look like you're trying! These past head-to-head games have been more like delicate chess games than actual baseball matches. Dragons and Swallows seem to exchange victories like polite dinner party guests exchange pleasantries.
The Swallows had a train-wreck performance recently against the Hiroshima Carp while the Dragons... well let’s just say their fans are probably questioning the direction of the franchise after that loss against Erik Barnes.
If we're looking at trends and tossing fortunes into a bottomless pit of probabilities and outcomes, I'd say that the Chunichi Dragons, despite their recent suffering, are in a slightly better position to snatch that elusive victory. It's not going to be a Louis Armstrong jazz number, if you catch my drift, but I can see the Dragons squeaking out a win by just a couple of runs. After all, the Dragons seem marginally better at quenching the fires of their opponents.
Albert’s Prediction: Chunichi Dragons by 2
