There's some thrill in the air as the Winnipeg Jets are gearing up to fly into Ottawa Senators' territory. With those spreads, you can feel the excitement.
In the crease for the Jets, we have Connor Hellebuyck, a man standing tall this season with an impressive 1118 saves, putting up superhuman numbers with that 95.2% seasonal save rate. Eric Comrie has also been holding down the nitty gritty with a 93.3% save rate over the last month.
Looking at Ottawa, they're not short of some quality netminding. Anton Forsberg has been showing some grit with 119 saves last month, while Linus Ullmark's season stats with 639 saves and a monumental 96.2% save percentage can't be overlooked.
Checking out the team's top guns, Winnipeg has got some substantial firepower. Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele are always a threat, with their last month's stats of 4 goals, 7 assists and 5 goals, 6 assists respectively. Gabriel Vilardi, with an impressive 6 goals and 4 assists last month, is also one to watch.
Skating over to the Senators, Tim Stützle's been wielding his magic wand, racking up 3 goals and 10 assists in the last month alone. Jake Sanderson isn’t far behind, netting himself 4 goals and 7 assists. Claude Giroux, despite the -2 plus minus, has been pretty productive too, chipping in with 2 goals and 5 assists last month.
According to the history books, the Jets seem to have an edge, winning three of the past four encounters between these two squads.
Both teams are having varying fortunes this season. Winnipeg's tally stands at 41-3-14 while Ottawa is stuck at 29-4-24. And as far as recent results go, the Jets look more confident with a 5-game winning streak, while the Senators have been wobbling quite a bit.
Purely based on NHL tradition, I'd say the game is in the Jets’ favor. If they can keep up their momentum from the recent wins, barring any unforeseen shenanigans, my money's on them.
