To nobody's surprise, Stars' goaltending phenoms Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith remain rock solid. We're reasonably comfortable saying they have the puck stopping prowess similar to a brick wall. Ancient Rome could have used these guys to stave off the invasion. The Blue Jackets counter with their own pair of netminders in Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov. Both decent, but let's face it, they're no DeSmith and, his past performances make us question; "Daniil, my man, what happened?"
There's a cavalcade of Stars players to go into, but let's highlight Matt Duchene, Jason Robertson, and Wyatt Johnston. Each putting up impressive numbers last month alone. The Blue Jackets? Well, they've got the enthusiastic Zach Werenski, the 'where-did-you-come from' surprise, Kent Johnson, and let's not forget, Ivan Provorov who's just there. Past matchups seem to favor Dallas, they're like a pest that Columbus simply can't swat away, winning 3 out of 4 encounters.
Dallas is coming with a strong record of 37 wins on hand like a middle school bully who's won pie-eating contests, with only 18 losses. Columbus on the other hand, it's like they keep saying "Thank you, sir, may I have another" with only 27 wins and 22 losses. Dallas is just fresh from their victories over New York and New Jersey, while the Blue Jackets managed to conquer Chicago but with some hiccups along the way.
So, since you're twisting my arm here, I'd say the Stars are ready to shine, they're coming in hotter than a jalapeno in a heatwave. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets, well, let's just say their motor's running but they aren't exactly burning rubber if you catch my drift here.
