Kansas State Wildcats by 4As we head into this much-anticipated matchup, let's look at the squads. On the Kansas State Wildcats side, Serena Sundell has been an impressive star with her trustworthy 14.0 points per game last month. Sundell's partner in crime, Taryn Sides, with a decent score of 10.8 points per game, can't be underestimated either. Of course, we can't overlook Temira Poindexter, her notable contribution of 12.4 points per game last month puts yet another feather in the Wildcats' cap.
Looking at the Iowa State Cyclones, they're not to be trifled with either. Their own dynamo, Audi Crooks, with a whopping 22.9 points per game last month has been making opponents sweat. Not far behind, Addy Brown, bagging an average of 15.6 points per game last month has been putting up fights left, right, and center.
While the Wildcats dominate the historical matchups, with several triumphs over the Cyclones in the past, the regular season records and last month's stats reflect a tale of tight competition. The Wildcats have a commendable 25-5 win-loss ratio to the Cyclones' 20-10. The recent games tell a similar story. Wildcats slipped a little with a couple of losses, but the Cyclones had their own share of downfalls and triumphs.
Queue in the AP ranking and the Wildcats, standing tall at number 14, do have an edge over the unranked Cyclones. However, if the Cyclones play their cards right, an upset is not off the table.
Given the recent performances, compelling individual stats, historical dominance, superior ranking, and indomitable spirit, our plastic friends in Vegas seem to fancy the Wildcats too. That being said, in the unpredictable world of college Basketball, it's anyone's game.
