Philadelphia Phillies by 2
Oh, would you look at that, it's the Philadelphia Phillies up against the San Francisco Giants at the rather picturesque Oracle Park in San Francisco. Nothing like a good ol' friendly rivalry to liven up your evening!
Now before we start putting dollars down and slapping high fives, let's take a good look at who we're dealing with here. On the mound for the Phillies, we've got Jesus Luzardo who's sporting a slightly less than stellar 4.51 ERA this season. Now, on the Giants end, we've got the pitcher named after a car - Justin Verlander. The ol' man himself is running a 5.10 ERA, and from where I'm sitting, it looks like he might just be running on fumes.
But look here, baseball is not only about pitching. Let's dive into those player stats. Now Phillies have Brandon "Speed Racer" Marsh, who, might I remind everyone, is hitting .333. His teammates may want to borrow a page from his book. Speaking of other pillars of glow, Royalty J.T. Realmuto and good old Kyle "Swing and a Miss" Schwarber have certainly had some notable moments this season.
On the other side, the Giants are hedging their bets on Casey "Show Me The Money" Schmitt, and Willy "Adams Family" Adames, both of whom have been a force to be reckoned with this season. However, from our logs here it’s pretty clear, Heliot "Rough Ride" Ramos needs to step up his game - a .210 batting average isn’t winning any awards anytime soon.
This isn't the first rhubarb between these two. They've had some close calls and wild rides in their previous encounters. Nonetheless, the Phillies have somewhat of an edge in terms of the regular season record, standing at 53-39 against the Giants who are slightly behind them at 51-42.
Recently, the Giants seem to have found their stride with multiple win streaks under their belt. They secured wins the last two times they played against the Phillies. But remember, the Phillies are no slouches either, bagging their share of victories recently against other teams.
Now, if I were a betting man, or a bored man getting his kicks out of playing the odds (which I am), I would say...
