Philadelphia Phillies by 2
Look at this, we've got the Philadelphia Phillies facing off against the New York Mets at the scenic, but somewhat stingy when it comes to the long ball, Citi Field.
Let's start with the men on the mound. Cristopher Sanchez might need a bit more deodorant with his whopping 3.24 ERA compared to pretty boy over in New York, David Peterson, who's flaunting a lower 2.92 ERA. Still, with both flaunting a K/9 around 7.5, it's anybody's guess who's got the edge here.
Moving on to the Phillies' roster, can we just have a moment to appreciate Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto? Harper's 0.324 batting average and Realmuto's 0.311, topped with a fair share of RBIs, make them a power duo. And of course, we can't forget Mr. Powerhouse, Kyle Schwarber who, with a .255 average, is boasting 20 RBIs and 7 homers.
As for the Mets, we've got Jose Iglesias and his radiant .310 average along with Mr. Speed Racer himself, Tyrone Taylor, sitting pretty with a .286 average and a couple of stolen bases under his belt. Pete Alonso, though, he seriously needs to stop eating those home run pies with 7 of 'em and a .238 average.
Now, for those of you with short term memory loss, their historic meetups have been a bit of a tit for tat game. But do take note, the latest round went to the Mets. That might sting a bit for old Philly.
The Phillies though, they've got a 91-62 shining record, standing tall against the Mets' less impressive 85-68. Although, Philly has had a little tumble in their latest results, only winning two out of their last five. The Mets, however, are grinning like the cat that got the cream, with four straight wins in their last games!
So, after all my jabbering, it's time for the prediction you all are anxiously waiting for, drumroll please...
