Let's take a gallop through this imminent sports event, shall we? The New York Yankees are set to joust against the Seattle Mariners in an expected fever-pitch head-on at the T-Mobile Park in Seattle. Now this particular park, just for the context, doesn't particularly favor batters, giving a wee-bit of advantage to our leash-throwers
Talking about pitchers, the Yankees have Luis Gil on their wheelhouse. Mr. Gil has an enviable 3.30 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 10.5 strikeouts-per-nine-innings in 25 appearances. The Mariners are pinning their hopes on Bryan Woo, somebody who's spent a decent amount of time on the mound this season, with a 2.44 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 7.2 strikeouts-per-nine-innings in 19 appearances.
Taking a gander at the Yankees' roster, we have Gleyber Torres looking high and handsome with a .307 batting average, and Aaron Judge smashing home runs as if a personal vendetta against the ball. Though not in his brightest form, Giancarlo Stanton is another one to keep close tabs on. On the Mariners' side, Victor Robles is lighting up the board with a nifty .421 batting average, followed by Luke Raley's considerable run production. Hard hitters, no soft tacos, I would say.
Historically, the mariners have had a bit of a rough go with the Yankees, winning only 2 of the past five meetings - a state of affairs they will be looking to rectify. At season's close, Yankees evidently pulled much better punches with 87 wins to the Mariners' 77.
Looking at recent form, the Yankees seem mighty consistent, winning 4 of their last 5 games. Mariners too, have played admirably recently, but the Yankees do roll in with more momentum.
In light of all this, and since specificity never killed anyone, we have ourselves a bit of a prediction to dive into.
Albert’s Prediction: New York Yankees by 3
