Arizona Diamondbacks by 3
Ah, the grand game of baseball, the thrilling coming together of skill, strategy, and good old American grit. Our featured match pits the fascinating Arizona Diamondbacks against the Colorado Rockies, nestled snugly in the scenic backdrop of the Coors Field in Denver. A hitters' paradise, if ever there was one.
Arizona is trotting out Jordan Montgomery to the mound, whose record of 5.90 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and 6.2 K/9 certainly leaves much to be desired this regular season given his 23 appearances. However, Colorado's response with Ryan Feltner flaunting a 5.19 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 8.1 K/9 over 27 appearances isn't exactly cutting the mustard either. Not exactly a pitchers' duel to look forward to, eh?
Arizona's Randal Grichuk is sizzling with a 0.348 batting average and 16 RBIs. Eugenio Suarez has also been a master at bringing his teammates home with 26 RBIs and a batting average of 0.324. Then there's Corbin Carroll--pretty impressive, batting .282 and spirited enough to steal seven bases, no less.
Colorado, on the other hand, have their own bats to brag about. Brenton Doyle's .263 batting average and 10 RBIs gives us something to argue about but, frankly, compared to Arizona's lineup it's downright pedestrian. Ezequiel Tovar and his gang are there, but pitted against the Diamondback heavyweights? It's a tough call.
These teams have had quite a push-and-pull history, with the pendulum swinging both ways last few games. The Diamondbacks though have a significantly more impressive season record than the Rockies (83-66, as opposed to an anaemic 57-93). Furthermore, the recent games reflect a pretty solid form for both teams, despite a couple of hiccups here and there.
So what's it going to be, ladies and gentlemen? Yes, Coors Field is a batter's dream, and the Rockies have the home advantage, but stacked against the Diamondbacks' hard hitting offense and absolutely superior season performance... well, we all know that old adage about good offense and defense, don't we?
