Monterrey by 2As we size up the matchup between Monterrey and Club Tijuana, let me just get this out of the way - if you're dreaming of a sudden resurgence from Club Tijuana, someone needs to wake you up and tell you to buy a lottery ticket - probably a safer bet.
Looking at the past matchups, these two teams love sharing points as much as children love sharing candy – which is to say, not really. But somehow Monterrey managed to win more games, and we all remember that impressive 4-0 drubbing they handed out back in '23.
Oh, and let’s not forget their regular season records. Monterrey’s having a pretty decent season with 5 wins under their belt and a solid goalie, while Club Tijuana's showing so far... well, let's just say it's more fitting for a comedy highlight reel.
What's interesting, and by interesting I mean distressing, is Club Tijuana’s recent results. I've seen more cheer in a tax office than in those game results. Pachuca put 4 past them and they couldn’t even manage a draw against Puebla. On the other end of the spectrum, Monterrey has been turning the heat up, sauntering out of their recent games like they own the place. Defeating Pumas UNAM and Santos Laguna removes any doubts about their team's form at the moment.
Putting this all into perspective, I'd say there's a higher chance of pigs sprouting wings than Club Tijuana coming out on top. Just for fun, let's say Monterrey wins this with a 2-goal margin, just to add a touch of suspense.
