My Prediction
Spartak Moscow by 2Ladies and Gentlemen, buckle up, because we've got quite a showdown between SKA St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow. Let's not get too comfy yet, there's some stats to peruse.
Goalkeeping seems to be an area of uncertainty for both teams. The numbers for the men between the pipes, be it SKA's Pleshkov Artemy and Pavel Moysevich or Spartak's Dmitri Nikolayev and Artyom Zagidulin, are not exactly inspiring confidence.
Over at SKA, we've got Ivan Demidov leading with 20 goals and 19 assists this season, while Sergei Plotnikov is trailing close behind him with 19 goals and an equal number of assists. Zakhar Bardakov has been sitting pretty with a comfortable, if not overwhelming, tally of 13 goals and 16 assists this season. Gives you the feeling these guys are the pulse of the team.
Glancing back over to Spartak Moscow, Alexander Pashin has been producing quite the scoring clinic with 11 goals and a whopping 24 assists so far this season. German Rubtsov, despite a less than glowing plus-minus, has also been contributing heartily to the offensive charge.
In their previous tussles, seems like there's no clear cut winner. Spartak had a resounding victory in their last meet up, but lest we forget, SKA's fought back twice in the past with very similar scorelines.
In terms of the season's overall performance, Spartak's one win bests SKA but that's razor thin if you ask me. Taking a peek at recent results, Spartak's had a slightly better run, while SKA's been on a bit of an unfortunate seesaw.
Wiping the crystal ball clean, let's take all of this into account for the almighty prediction. Drumroll, please. It does look like Spartak Moscow might just have the edge. And remember folks, it ain't over till the obese soprano vocalizes.
