My Prediction
Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod by 2Ah, a match colder than your ex's heart, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod versus HC Sochi. Looking for useful goalkeeper stats is like finding a yeti in the Sahara, since our Ivans and Sergeis on both sides have been rather, well, unoccupied with a whopping zero saves.
Torpedo does come well-stocked in their armada of top players. Vasily Atanasov shines bright both in the season and last month’s stats. Kirill Voronin, while not exactly a lucky penny for goals, chipped in a generous seven assists and let's not forget Maxim Letunov with his season total of 11 goals and 19 assists.
Now, turning our eyes toward HC Sochi, they have their visors focused on artillery elements such as Sergei Popov, magic assist man Artur Tyanulin and Timur Khafizov scoring goals like it's a job. Well, it is his job, technically.
And if history teaches us anything, it's that we are doomed to repeat it...or in our case, to hopefully predict it. These teams have roughed each other up multiple times, Torpedo having the latest laugh with a crushing 7-1 victory. Season records tell a similar tale with Torpedo leading 22-23 to HC Sochi’s 14-31.
In recent affairs though, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod seems to have found their momentum alternating between victory and defeat, while poor Sochi seems to be practicing more for figure skating than hockey, it's all stumbles!
Weighing all these dizzying stats, I throw my prediction behind Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Sochi, you're a lovely holiday destination, but tonight, it may get cold.
