Alright, lighten up everyone, it's time for a biting clash between the Kashima Antlers and Albirex Niigata. Now look at the Antler's goalie Tomoki Hayakawa who's been to the block 7 times this season and been successful in all his attempts. Compare this to Niigata's guardian of the net, Kazuki Fujita, racking up a meager 2 saves, it's clear who is having a better season so far.
Taking a glance at the respective top squads, Niigata not introducing anyone with more than a single score to his name is quite a spectacle. Shusuke Ota, the lone ranger, apparently trying to shoulder the team by himself. On the flip side, we've got the Antler's Léo Ceará and Yuma Suzuki, already having multiple goals under their belts, clearly setting the stage on fire.
Looking back in the rear-view mirror, the Antlers appear to have little trouble when facing Niigata, stomping them with a blistering 4-0 victory just last October. Then the roles flipped a bit and they settled on an even ground in June.
Season so far hasn't been all roses and sunshine for either of them. Both standing pretty similar records but the Antlers manage to edge out with an extra victory instead of a draw.
The recent forms for both the teams tell a similar tale too. While Niigata can't seem to find a win anywhere in the vicinity, Kashima, on the other hand, seems to have found a bit more success. At least they're not strangers to the feeling.
Based on all of this, if I had to put my money here, and let's be grateful I don't have to, I'd lean towards the Antlers carrying the day, mostly because I'm partial towards mammals with antlers, but also partly due to their better form and match history. It'll be close, though.
