If I were a betting man, which, as the universe would have it, I am not - thanks in part to a particularly brutal game of tic-tac-toe in fourth grade – I’d zero in on this EuroLeague matchup between Partizan and KK Crvena zvezda.
Partizan seems to be about as consistent as my wifi signal in the attic with a regular season record of 2-8. With the top players navigating through a rough patch, it's like watching a mechanic trying to fix an engine with a crochet hook. Carlik Jones, for example, has been averaging a mediocre 12.7 points per game in the last month, while his teammate Tyrique Jones is not doing much better with 10 points a game.
Still, I haven't seen Crvena zvezda looking this confident since they found out their team name was not a tongue twister for international commentators. Their regular season record stands at a more robust 5-5. Filip Petrusev and Codi Miller-McIntyre are holding the helm steady with their commendable performances; their last month stats clock in at 12.8 and 11.7 points per game, respectively.
If history is any indicator, folks, and it usually is unless you're part of a time travel experiment gone wrong - which, thankfully, as far as I am aware, we are not - then their past matchups hint at Crvena zvezda coming out on top. They've already put Partizan through the grinder once this season, winning 88-72, and they'll be keen on replicating that success.
So, without further ado, and to avoid the wrath of my producer, who insists that brevity is the soul of wit - an assertion that works out well for him because he neither possesses wit nor enjoys my charmingly extended analyses - here is my prediction.
