Fortuna Sittard by 1Alright then, we are talking about a real moral conundrum here. A battle between David and Goliath, the Almere City FC and Fortuna Sittard, a riveting Eredivisie matchup. The teams' stats are all over the place, like a kid's scribbles on a wall.
Playing goalie for Fortuna Sittard is Mattijs Branderhorst, a man who saves more successfully than my local supermarket on a Black Friday. Fortuna also has in its ranks Syb van Ottele and Jasper Dahlhaus, players who've shown some panache on the field. Don't underestimate them from their recent performances.
Well, guess what? Almere City FC isn't throwing in the towel just yet. Defending their honor between the sticks, we have Nordin Baker, whose nimble fingers make for some good saves. For them, we also have to consider Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp and Thom Haye, who have notched up the ranks this season with their performances.
Looking back on history, Fortuna Sittard has been the thorn in Almere's side, taking the lion share of wins in their past matchups. I reckon they might still be having nightmares from their 3-0 bashing in August 2024.
Fortuna Sittard has a somewhat decent regular season record with more wins than Almere City FC, who've been having more draws than a quick-draw contest in the wild west. Recent results have seen Fortuna delivering more pizzas than the local Domino's, while Almere has been doing about as well as a 2-legged dog in a foot race.
