AZ Alkmaar by 1
Settle in people, we got ourselves a real humdinger in the Eredivisie with the matchup between the Go Ahead Eagles and AZ Alkmaar.
First off, let's talk about AZ Alkmaar. They got Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduro in goal and Jeroen Zoet backing him up. Now, Zoet hasn't done much saving this season, but Owusu-Oduro is still hovering around an average rating. In terms of their game-changers on the field, Troy Parrott and Mexx Meerdink are the ones punching goals, while Kristijan Belić is taking care of orchestrating the play with a commendable pass percentage.
Now, let's flap over to the other side of the field to the Go Ahead Eagles. Keeper Jari De Busser is definitely not taking a bus ride this season with an impressive rating and 14 saves. Mats Deijl and Mathis Suray have been getting on the score sheet recently, and you can't ignore Joris Kramer and Enric Llansana who've been a wall with their pass percentages.
Looking at past match-up records, well, the Eagles might want to put a little extra pep in their training sessions. It's been a rocky road, to say the least, with Alkmaar bagging the wins quite comfortably.
However, the regular season records for both teams are the same and both clubs have seen mixed results recently. Alkmaar did go neck and neck with NAC Breda though, and that might be a morale booster.
Bearing all this in mind, the game seems quite balanced. But since I have to make a prediction and I'm not allowed to flip a coin on air, I've got to say that AZ Alkmaar may just edge this one.
