RB Leipzig by 1Strap in folks, we've got a real treat brewing in the Bundesliga as Union Berlin squares off against RB Leipzig. This is going to be a clash of the titans, or at least as titanic as two mid-table Bundesliga teams can be.
On the goalie front, Péter Gulácsi has been holding the fort quite decently for RB Leipzig, with a 6.60 rating and 9 saves. He might want to borrow a pair of extra gloves from Union Berlin's Alexander Schwolow though, who boasts a 6.90 rating and an impressive 11 saves.
Let's focus our binoculars down the field now. RB Leipzig parades some fine players. Xavi Simons, David Raum and our pal Willi Orbán come to mind. They're all rated at an impressive 7 and above and have demonstrated respectable passing accuracy quite consistently in recent games.
Union Berlin, on the other hand, brings some talent as well. The likes of Diogo Leite and Christopher Trimmel, though goal-drought, have a knack for keeping things buzzing on the field. Benedict Hollerbach, however, did shine with a goal, though his shots on goal statistic is something I'll politely choose to overlook.
When it comes to head-to-head clashes, Leipzig has had the upper hand in the latest of encounters, bagging a 3-0 win and most recently a scoreless draw.
Sorry to burst your bubble Union Berlin fans, but your regular season record doesn't quite rouse confidence compared to RB Leipzig's sassy 9-5-5 record.
Recent form tells a similar tale. RB Leipzig had a few rough spells against Bayer Leverkusen and Bochum, but managed a spirited 4-2 thumping of Werder Bremen. Union Berlin, bless their hearts, managed a win against Mainz but their latest outing has them licking their wounds after a 3-0 trouncing by St. Pauli.
Now I'm no fortune teller, but I've got a few bucks on RB Leipzig on this one. Albert’s Prediction: RB Leipzig by 1.
