Alright, buckle up, in the red corner, we've got the Fortaleza pulling up with their alpha-dog keeper João Ricardo who's been stockpiling saves like a doomsday prepper (152 if you're counting). Their rough and tumble roster includes Benjamin Kuscevic and Marinho, both of whom have a serious thing for goals and shots on goal.
On the other side of the pitch, we have Fluminense, who aren't too shabby either. They might not have one but two goalkeepers who are making sure things don't go south. Let's hear it for Fábio and Vitor Eudes guys, they've been busting out that 7.10+ rating like it’s on sale. On top of that, we've got Thiago Silva and Jhon Arias, pretty faces and a killer accurate pass % makes for a lethal combo.
Peeling back the time, take a look at the recent skirmishes when these two teams locked horns. Now, these guys seem to love a to-and-fro affair considering their penchant for draws and single-point victories, however, in their last five games, Fortaleza has pulled ahead thrice.
Last year? Fortaleza seems to take the cake, they’ve put more W’s in their books than Fluminense’s unspectacular12-10-16. But here’s the fun part, folks, ‘recent results’ for both teams shows good performances – you might argue that Fortaleza knocked one out of the park with a shutout against Internacional, but Fluminense is also on a graveyard shift, keeping others from scoring too.
My two cents here - it's going to be a nail-biter, but the scales are tipped ever so slightly in favor of Fortaleza.
