Ahhh. Here we are staring at the saucer-eyed stare down between the Port Adelaide Power and the Geelong Cats, a dance as old as time ... or at least as old as the AFL. We’re just hitting round 10, which in grand AFL tradition, is somewhere in the middle of the season. Now, if history holds up, these teams should put on another great show. And by show, I mean a game where Geelong pretty much dominates. Their last face-off ended with the Cats purring quite loudly while the Power... well, let’s just say they went out with a whimper.
This season though, both teams have been about as stable as a one-legged kangaroo in a boxing match. Cats sitting on 5-4, and the Power trying to plug in at 4-5. Nothing like the balanced stakes of mediocrity to fire up a gambler’s heart, am I right?
Geelong is lysing around in their comfortable number 7 slot, while Port Adelaide is... Not. They're doing a convincing 'uncertain turtle' impression at number 14.
Looking over the rearview mirror into recent results, Geelong hasn’t exactly been playing like the hunger games champion but isn't too far off. Port, on the other hand, has been more ups and downs than an overactive elevator and could use a bit of good fortune.
All that being said and not explicitly said, my money would still be on the Cats, gentlemen. They might not be the pick of the litter, but at least they're not the runt. The Power sure has its work cut out for it.
Albert’s Prediction: Geelong Cats by 8
