Let's have a gander at all the pieces of our AFL sporting kaleidoscope, shall we? Carlton Blues and Geelong Cats are squaring off, and the scent of rivalry hangs in the air like...well, like a meat pie at a footy match. For those not in the loop, we're looking at Round 7, the time in the season when things really start to heat up like a barbie in mid-summer.
The boys in blue have shown some appetite, specially when they handily pulverized Geelong 138 to 75 last June. But, one can't overlook how our feline friends clawed their way to victory in a 118-105 matchup last April, a win as satisfying as a well-chilled pint of VB.
Glancing at the numbers, Geelong has gone about their business this season with a decent 4-2 record, while Carlton's 2-4 showing is about as appealing as a plate of cold chips. Recently, the Cats edged out Hawthorn, a win as scrappy as a feral roo. Meanwhile, Carlton flexed their muscles against North Melbourne, a resounding triumph that probably left them grinning like a Crocodile in a bird nest.
Finally, if we were gambling types (and I'm told some sport enthusiasts are), we might notice the Cats are lurking in the #6 spot in the league, while Carlton is languishing at #13. Looks like one of these Cats has got the cream, and the Blues just have the blues.
So, given the ins and outs and what-have-yous of this sport we all pretend to understand, I'd have to mumble my final judgment like an inebriated patron at the local watering hole whispering sweet nothings to a pot of beer.
Albert’s Prediction: Geelong Cats by 11
