Swiatek in straight sets.
Swiatek and Collins, oh the intrigue! These two have some history, my friends. While recent times have seen Collins pull a fast one on our Polish sensation, we can't forget that Swiatek took the upper hand in their earlier encounters. She practically made a hobby out of besting Collins during the balmy days of 2023 and 2024.
But let's talk form. Collins has been smashing through her matches like a pheasant through a poorly constructed hedge. Two crisp victories, serving love in each, raises eyebrows. However, let’s not ignore the fact that her resistance to surrender slipped away against Minnen and Danilović not too far back.
Now, Swiatek, our eighth seed, had a minor hiccup against Pegula back in June. An anomaly? I'd like to think so. Aside from that, she has been an unflappable Polish powerhouse, bouncing back to devastate Kudermetova and McNally most recently.
When I curl up at night, I dream of heart, not percentiles, and if I've learned anything from watching tennis it's that it likes to throw curveballs that would make a major league pitcher green with envy. But, seeing as the bookies are favoring Swiatek, they are generally pretty good at this, right?
So, let's get to it. Fasten your seatbelts, ladies and gents, I'm sticking my neck out here.
Albert’s Prediction: Swiatek in straight sets.
