Ah, what a matchup we've got on our hands between the Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces. The Aces, having clearly been enjoying the home turf advantage - if history is anything to go by. Their star player, A'ja Wilson, with her 25.1 points per game from last month, has been nothing short of phenomenal. Kelsey Plum ain't doing so bad either with her consistent performances, sporting 17.5 points in the last month.
Switch over to the Sun and we have Alyssa Thomas, who's no slouch herself, whipping up an impressive show with 10.4 points this season, 8.6 rebounds, and assists hovering around the 7.9 mark. Brionna Jones too has been keeping up with 15.4 points from last month's performance, providing a fair helping hand.
Past matchups seem to favor the Aces, consistently outscoring the Sun. In the last five games, the Aces have been the winning hand three times. Ah, the sweet taste of familiarity.
But would you believe it? The Sun actually has a better season record with 26 wins compared to the Aces' 24 wins. And they're sitting on #3 in the Eastern Conference with the Aces following closely at #4. Looks like this game might not be as predictable as my last year's Christmas dinner.
However, if we look at recent form - the Sun seems to be shining brighter with victories against the Phoenix Mercury, Los Angeles Sparks while Aces managed to stay afloat against the Indiana Fever and took a hit against the New York Liberty.
Considering all these elements, I’d say it’ll be a close-cut affair, but the unleashing of A'ja Wilson on home court, paired with a historical precedence, will likely tilt the game in the Aces’ favor.
