Ah, the game of the night, New York Liberty against the Dallas Wings. The Wings being the caged canaries in this matchup, ladies and gentlemen. New York Liberty boasting a veritable dream team, with whizz-kids like Breanna Stewart who's been racking up 20.9 points per game last month and the phenomenal Sabrina Ionescu, dripping in talent with 19.2 points per game this season. Let's not forget Jonquel Jones who's been consistently hitting double digits with the points this season. Quite a dreamy trio there!
Now, in the other corner, and I use corner since they seem to be painted into one, the Dallas Wings are led by Arike Ogunbowale, with impressive 23.7 points per game over the last month. And let's not forget Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally who've been putting up numbers in the teens game after game. But, you got to do more than just turn up for the party if you want to play with the big kids.
Looking at the history between these teams, the Liberty have been positively oppressive to the Wings. It seems like the Wings are yet to find a way to navigate around the Statue of Liberty. I mean, the last matchup ended with a 14-point margin. With New York Liberty’s regular-season record of 30 wins versus the Wing's pitiful tally of 9, there really doesn't seem to be a lot of soar left in the Wings.
And as far as the recent results go, again I have to side with the Liberty. They've been demonstrating a greater degree of consistency against various teams, and let's be honest, a good run is always a booster!
Looking at the standings and you start to wonder if the Wings are really in flight or they've just been hovering all season. All in all, with liberty ringing louder here, I don't see the Wings taking this one.
Albert’s Prediction: New York Liberty by 12
