Whaddaya know, it's the Highlanders and Moana Pasifika locking horns for the 12th round of our beloved Super Rugby season. I'll spare drums and violins for the suspense, the Highlanders admittedly haven't been living their All Blacks-era, running just one place above the bottom of the Super Rugby Pacific 2025 list. While the Moana Pasifika aren't exactly setting the world on fire with their 9th spot, they do have a better win-loss record this season.
Now, the history books suggest a slight edge towards the Highlanders with them coming out on top in all their last 3 meetups. However, these wins were tight and the boys from Pacific islands wouldn't need a fortune teller to tell them they were close.
Anyhow, moving on to their recent hustles, it's clear as a crystal bathtub that the Highlanders are waning. Their last matches resembled a bad movie sequels, each worse than the last (except for that nostalgia hit against the Fijian Drua - clearly a one hit wonder). Moana Pasifika, meanwhile, haven't sung too many melodies either. You'd almost empathize with the guy tasked to highlight their play- seems like he's paid to color white noise.
Hidden between the tediously prolonged battles are occasional sparks of Pasifika resurgence. Defeating the Fijian Drua and that spirited win against the Crusaders can't go unnoticed.
So here's the deal, Fol...friendly audience, if you're putting your house on this, just remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day. The Highlanders, with the weight of history, are ticking just towards their hour. However, betting on rugby's not like throwing at dart boards blindfolded. So, as obscure as my humor, the prediction is...
Albert’s Prediction: Highlanders by 3
