Ah, what a tantalizing matchup we have, Como versus Napoli. Now, Napoli’s been favored more often than a parent's firstborn, thanks in part to their commanding keeper Alex Meret making 8 saves this season with an impressive 6.73 rating. But Como's been giving them a little competition on the keeper front. In the recent war of the gloves, Jean Butez has come out on top with a 6.90 rating and 9 saves.
Taking a little dive into the deep end of the player pool now. Napoli’s biggest contenders this season appear to be Scott McTominay and Leonardo Spinazzola, both with a 7.15 rating and a goal each. And let's not forget David Neres and his almost picture-perfect passing accuracy, raking in 88.9%.
But let's not be too quick to crown Napoli the undisputed champs just yet. Como is packing some heat, too. Nico Paz has been hitting the back of the net like it owes him money, scoring 3 goals this season with a rating of 7.44. And Gabriel Strefezza isn't trailing too far behind with a rating of 7.18 and a goal to his name.
Now, some of you might recall the last meetup between Napoli and Como where Napoli came out on top with a 3-1 victory. But, you know, the past can sometimes be as relevant as yesterday's weather forecast. Quite useless, if you ask me.
On the wider scale of the regular season, Napoli's been putting up more wins than a dodgy slot machine with a mighty 17-5-3 record. Como, on the other hand, seem to be more of a love story with the loss column, collecting a 6-7-12 record.
In the boxing ring of recent results, Napoli has shown some strong resilience, pulling off a 2-2 tie with Lazio and jamming a 2-1 win on Juventus. Como, however, pulled a fresh surprise victory over Fiorentina with a healthy 2-0 win but has been seen kissing the canvas more times than they'd probably admit in public.
Putting all these glorious, and sometimes, discouraging stats together, I've dusted off my crystal ball and here is what I’ve got.
