Sepp Straka by 2 strokesNow that was a round, wasn't it? Who'd have thought that Rory McIlroy would drill in a -7. That took a putter with the accuracy of a Swiss watch. As for the leader board - it isn't just Rory's world we're living in; it's nice to see an eclectic mix up there. Straka's got a single stroke lead at -16. Mind you, this isn't his first rodeo, with a recent victory at The American Express under his belt. Shane Lowry isn't far behind at -15, and although he didn't make the cut in the Farmers Insurance Open, getting cut sometimes is like taking a dive in cold water - wakes you up and gets you moving.
Jason Day and Justin Rose too had a good last round, both carding a round score of -4. Day's also hanging out in the top 15 with a total score of -9, while Rose is comfortably lodged at 4th with -14. A bit of a see-saw we have here, which is just how we like it.
Now, betting on the winner is more of a gamble than playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded pistol, but we'll give it a try anyway. Straka's got the lead and the recent form, but Lowry has shown he has the magic touch with his last round.
Just one more fun fact before we part ways – Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka weren't even born the last time a player came from behind to win the tournament in the final round. Will history repeat itself, or will the ghosts of Pebble Beach's past rise from the depths of the Pacific to ensure it doesn't? Only time will tell.
