St. George Illawarra Dragons by 4
What a spectacle we have. A couple of NRL bruisers not exactly setting the world alight this season, but they've got opportunities to make some waves nonetheless. The St. George Illawarra Dragons, graciously cocky with their #11 position, are up against the absolute basement dwellers, Parramatta Eels, who are sitting rather uncomfortably at #15.
Our indulgence into the past reveals some intriguing narratives. Recent encounters show that the Eels have a kind of superiority complex over the Dragons, with them coming out on top in the last four showdowns. Interesting, but remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
On the recent results dashboard, it's pretty much a mixed bag. The Eels have shown some flickers of form with three wins, while the Dragons might need some dragon magic with a couple of harsh losses.
Here's a cracker - we are halfway through the season, and neither team is relishing any 'top of the table' fantasies. So, with pride on the line, I think the Dragons will want to breathe fire and put the Eels in their place.
In case you're taking notes, we're in the depths of the regular season, still ten rounds away from the finals. The Eels and Dragons haven't exactly stamped their passports for the top eight, but funny things happen in rugby. By funny, I mean unexpected, like the fire alarm going off during a water balloon fight.
So, it's a conundrum wrapped in an enigma, hidden in a paradox, but my money, hypothetically speaking of course, is on the brooding Dragons. The Eels might slip and slide, but I think the Dragons will smoke 'em by a reasonable margin.
