My Prediction
Edmonton Oilers by 2All right, darlings, brace yourselves because we're diving straight into the juicy bits. Now, let's consider those adorable goaltenders. Over on the Oilers’ side, we have Calvin Pickard rockin' a pretty solid playoffs save percentage of 88.8% while Stuart Skinner trails a bit with an 85.7% playoff save rate. As for the Golden Knights, Adin Hill holds down the fort with a respectable 87.7% playoff save rate. Don't forget about Akira Schmid though, who’s boasting a rather glittery 100% rate, albeit from fewer playoff shots on goal.
The Edmonton Oilers have a roster that would even make your mother-in-law double take. Connor McDavid seems to have a love affair with the assist line, tallying up 14 in playoff stats, while Leon Draisaitl has been firing cannons netting 5 playoff goals. Now, don't you dare disregard Evan Bouchard and his 4 playoff goals, plus 8 assists, he can turn on the heat when it counts. The Golden Knights sport a commendable line-up as well. Jack Eichel, despite his lackluster plus-minus, has been feeding the puck with 9 assists while Mark Stone has lit the lamp 4 times in the playoffs. Alex Pietrangelo has also been contributing, albeit mildly, with a playoff score of 2 goals and 4 assists.
The past few matches between these two seem to have Edmonton's number on speed dial with the Oilers leading the series 3-1, and let’s not forget that glorious 3-0 shutout just recently last match. The second round series record has Edmonton prancing ahead with their noses high. The Oilers managed to push past the Kings 4-2 in the previous playoff series while Vegas did the same, toppling Minnesota Wild 4-2.
In terms of recent results, Edmonton seems to have obtained the Midas touch with their winning streak with victories over the Golden Knights in the last three matches. The Knights, on the other hand, have been having a rougher go, losing three out of their recent five games. When you peek at the standings, Vegas hovers dominantly at #2 in the Western Conference while Edmonton is peering from below at #6.
Before I polish up my crystal ball for the prediction, let's remember something: the ice doesn't care about your past, it only respects who shows up for the game.
