Oh, the drama, the thrill, the intrigue that's usually woven into the fabric of NCAA basketball. Here we have the upcoming contest between the TCU Horned Frogs strutting into the den of the Baylor Bears with a chip on their shoulders. Speaking of chips, the Bears aren't exactly in hibernation here. They're ranked #25, which gives them a good head start. Call it a homecourt advantage if you will, the Bears are comfortably nestled in their den waiting for the Frogs to hop in.
The past can easily become prologue when it comes to head to head history, and these teams have had a fair share of heart-pumping nail biters. You remember the exceeding expectations of the Frogs in January 2024, don't forget that glittering performance where they outscored the Bears by three. But as destiny would have it, the Bears unleashed their fury in February 2024 and outlasted the Frogs. The past, it seems, is as murky as a well-stirred milkshake.
Turning our attention to the player stats, the Frogs’ shooting guard Noah Reynolds has been on fire recently, his agile game notwithstanding. Adding to the melee is Vasean Allette, who's been putting up impressive numbers lately, especially in the rebounds department. However, if we're talking about rebound supremacy, we cannot ignore the Herculean efforts of Ernest Udeh, who’s been more than a little helpful on the boards.
For the Bears, the brown bear of the pack, Norchad Omier has been upping his game, brawling both in points and rebounds as he strives to remain the go-to guy on the floor. Then there’s VJ Edgecombe, a name that’s been in the headlines for his substantial contribution in both points and rebounds. Plus, Robert Wright isn’t called Mr. Right for nothing. His points per game and assists are singing his praises all over.
If Lady Luck and I were Facebook friends, I’d ping her right about now to ask her opinion. But given the Frogs' inconsistency as demonstrated by their recent losses against the Utah Utes and Houston Cougars, it's almost as if they've swapped their lily pad for a bed of nails. On a brighter note, they did manage to leap past the BYU Cougars, which deserves a mention.
The Bears, on the contrary, dropped to the Arizona Wildcats but brushed off the defeat to munch on the Utah Utes and the Cincinnati Bearcats. Cincinnati for breakfast, I suppose, is better than no breakfast at all.
Using my superior algorithm, which I call 'the Algorit', it seems the Baylor Bears have enough honey in their paws to stave off the Horned Frogs' siege.
