Denver Nuggets, have a remarkable character in Nikola Jokić, the man is a stats machine with 24.9 points the playoffs and pulling 12.8 rebounds. Do not forget Jamal Murray, that fellow can mess up the opponent’s plan with 21.7 points per game during these playoffs. Meanwhile, from our OKC lineup, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is really piloting the ship, averaging an impressive 27.6 points in the playoffs. Jalen Williams is no pushover too, contributing 21.0 points each game in the playoffs.
Digging up the past, Oklahoma City won the most recent battle by a mere 5 point-margin at Denver's home ground. And going back, it almost seems like these two enjoy taking turns winning. Trading shots and games, their Semifinals series is even at 2-2.
But here's a thing about past, it's a funny beast - doesn't always predict the future. The Thunder had a considerably more dominant regular season with a 68-14 record compared to the Nuggets' 50-32. They also successfully extinguished the Memphis Grizzlies 4-0 in their previous playoff round, while the Nuggets narrowly escaped their battle with the Clippers with a 4-3 series win.
Now, considering recent results, it's all a bit of a mixed bag. Sure, the Nuggets held their ground at their home court recently but we've seen the OKC Thunder launch a counter successfully too.
Denvers' got better situated players, OKC have shown a dominant performance and yet they seem to be limping in recent game. It appears more like a stroll in the park rather than a playoff race. But considering the unpredictability of sport, it's clear as mud who's going to come out on top.
However, given the Thunder's home advantage and considering Denver's trouble with altitude, I'm putting my money on Oklahoma. But folks, don't expect a runaway victory. OKC are favored, but in playoffs, it's always a rough terrain.
