Colorado Rapids by 1All right, let's dive into this deep-end pool of Major League Soccer. We got ourselves a face-off that could heat up any chilly weekend, a brewing battle between the Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders FC. Grab your popcorn!
Seattle Sounders FC has Stefan Frei between the sticks- sporting a respectable rating of 6.93 with 11 saves. Yeah, not too shabby, I might add. Not to be outdone, or left on a shelf, Colorado Rapids' Zack Steffen parades an even sharper sting, with a bite-ier 6.95 goalie rating and 13 saves. Now that's what I call two Big Macs with extra sauce!
If Frei is the Seattle's backbone, Cristian Roldán, that slick midfield maestro with a 7.55 rating, is most certainly its heart. Combining his slick pass percentage of 87.7 with Albert Rusnák's pass accuracy of 93.1 - not to mention his prowess at finding the back of the net, and you've got yourself a wicked cocktail of attacking intent.
On the other side of the grand chessboard, walking tall on Rapids' turf, we find the "I-always-score" Đorđe Mihailović, sporting a lofty 8.00 rating while cushioning the net with 4 sparkling goals this season. Then you add Rafael Navarro with his 2 net busters, and everyone knows you're not just dealing with small potatoes anymore.
History tells us the Sounders have gotten the best of their Rocky Mountain rivals with an upper hand in recent matches. Keep your ears open though, because the Rapids stand firm with a superior regular season record of 4-3-2, bettering Sounders' leveled up 3-3-3 record.
Reflecting on their recent performances, it seems the Rapids have dipped their fingers in some thick peanut butter, with a decent run barring their latest draw against Houston Dynamo and a loss to the Timbermen. Seattle, on the other hand, is coming out of a 3-0 thumping of Nashville SC, looking brighter than a fresh dollar bill.
So, based on some rather shallow and questionable analysis, what’s the bottom line, my sport-hungry friends?
