San Jose Earthquakes by 1We've got a contest folks that you might mistake for a telenovela given the drama that's unfolded with these two teams in recent history. Heading north from the gold rush town, San Jose Earthquakes are set to tango with Sporting Kansas City, reminiscing the old wild west stories.
San Jose's net-minders, Daniel with a sturdy 7.48 rating and 20 saves, and Earl Edwards Jr, a bit of an underdog with a rating of 5.60 and 2 saves, make for quite a contrast. Unfortunately, we're missing Sporting Kansas City's goalie stats- a piece of the puzzle as elusive as an ice-covered orange in January.
Sporting Kansas City is bringing along a legion of players. Memo Rodríguez leads the pack with a solid rating of 7.47 showing the right balance between metaphorical silk and steel. Manu García's 7.35 rating and Dejan Joveljić's notable 3 goals also stick out like a sore thumb, but in a good way.
San Jose, on the other hand, parades Cristian Espinoza with a 7.70 rating and 2 goals, and Josef Martínez with a 7.67 rating and 3 well-earned goals. They’re the twins from different mothers, if you will.
Their past showdowns are a picture of perfect parity, making it as easy to predict as quantum physics. Yet, emerged has an interesting pattern: if you’re the host, you’re the toast. Sporting Kansas City has had the upper hand lately with greater triumphs, however, San Jose's record doesn’t tell the complete story of their potential. If paperwork wins games, then librarians would be champions.
