With the Dodgers welcoming the Brewers at their home turf at Dodger Stadium, this battle of the titans is sure to be an engaging spectacle.
Newly acquired Aaron Civale is taking up the mantle for Brewers. With a 5.281 ERA and 1.437 WHIP under his belt, let's hope his transition from Tampa Bay Rays doesn't come with any seasickness.
On the other side, we've got the mountain of a man, Tyler Glasnow for the Dodgers. The lad has been fairly on fire this season with a 3.233 ERA and 0.932 WHIP to his name.
For the Brewers, Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio have been the top batters for the last month. Yelich's 11 stolen bases are particularly indicative of his aggressive base running. Meanwhile, Willy Adames seems to have somehow found himself batting with a golf club, with his abysmal .182 batting average being a pop-fly in the proverbial ointment.
As for the Dodgers, Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani are the toast of the town. Ohtani's 13 home runs and 26 RBIs are especially commendable. Miguel Vargas could do with a little home run magic, though.
In recent face-offs between these two teams, Dodgers came out on top in all the five games, winning quite comfortably for most parts. Seems the Brewers are looking for a bit of payback. Interesting!
Considering the regular season records, we've got the Brewers with 52 wins and 36 losses and the Dodgers with 53 wins and 35 losses. Given the Dodgers slightly better track record, one might consider leaning towards them, but as we know in this game, nothing is for certain.
Looking at the recent results, both teams have had close games with a few disappointing losses. Brewers, in particular, have been in a ding-dong battle with the Rockies. And the Dodgers seem to be seeing more fireworks than they'd have preferred this July.
Considering the match-up, the venue, the in-form players, and the recent results, and of course, keeping that secret sauce (that I’m not allowed to tell you about) in mind, here's my prediction:
