Philadelphia Phillies by 2
I've got a few words to share about this exciting NLDS playoff match coming up between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.
As most of you would know, Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia's home field, tends to play favorably for hitters. And we can't miss the lineups poised to take advantage of that. Keeping a keen eye on the Mets, there's Brandon Nimmo and Mark Vientos who have been putting up interesting numbers.
At the mound, the Mets will most likely start with Kodai Senga. Back in his last season, Senga showcased 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings and had a decent enough ERA of 3.127. Not too shabby, eh?
Meanwhile, the Phillies, are expected to open with Zack Wheeler. His performance last season was quite comparable to Senga, with 10.2 K/9 and an ERA of 3.794. However, Wheelers postseason stats took a leap with an impressive 2.038 ERA and 11.9 K/9. It will be interesting to see if he can carry that hot streak into these playoffs.
Looking back at their past matchups, the Mets have been slight favorites, but we can't ignore the Phillies’ resilience.
Now, the Mets recent run has seen a nice balance of wins and losses. And for the Phillies, it's a similar story. Not for the faint-hearted though, it's going to be a roller-coaster!
Given all the variables in play, it looks like this will be anybody's game, but taking everything into consideration, here’s my prediction.
