Enjoy everybody, the upcoming matchup between Liga Portugal teams, Sporting and Gil Vicente looks to be, well, let's just say it's going to be as exciting as watching paint dry on a humid day.
Between the goalposts, we have Andrew for Gil Vicente sporting a rating of 7.18 and managing to keep 9 balls from sneaking into the goal. But then there's Rui Silva, over at Sporting, not doing as many wall imitations as Andrew, but keeping his spirits high with a 6.85 rating and 4 saves.
For the boys in stripes, we got Correia on top with a 7.40 rating and a honed aim, having 2 goals to his name this season, and a solid pass accuracy of 73.8%. Zé Carlos and Fernandes, who are neck-to-neck with 7.25 and 7.23 ratings respectively but yet to make any remarkable offensive contributions.
Over in Sporting's camp, Gyökeres seems to be on a roll with a rating of 8.42, having turned the field into his personal shooting range with 8 goals and 13 shots on goal, the guy's a regular Rambo out there. And Trincão, not really there in the goal-scoring department but still maintaining a respectable 7.75 rating. Also, we cannot forget young Araújo, who in between asking his mother to do his laundry, managed to score a goal and nail a 7.40 rating.
Reflecting on the past encounters, Sporting seems to have a slight advantage with 2 wins, while Gil Vicente is yet to register a victory, and two encounters ended in a yawner; 0-0 draws. Snore.
Sporting's regular season record of 23-6-2 shows they have been doing something right, or maybe the other teams have been doing something wrong, who's to say really? In stark contrast, Gil Vicente has been struggling like a one-legged man at a butt-kicking competition with a record of 8-8-15.
The recent sprees of these two teams suggest that Sporting is in a better playground form, converting those candy grabs into more wins, while Gil Vicente has been the weird kid picking up rocks in the sandbox.
So, as much as I'd like to upturn the apple cart with a wild prediction, let's just say you'd have better odds betting on a tortoise to win a marathon. About time we faced the reality, folks.
