The treasure trove of stats and past performances is screaming … more like whispering in my ear, to say that this upcoming Liga MX Apertura match between Toluca and Club Necaxa has the fingerprints of Toluca's victory all over it. A simple glance at the recent balance of power in the previous face-offs between the two clubs will tell you, Toluca has been the dominant force. Those red devils have been netting goals like they have a personal vendetta with Club Necaxa.
When you look at Club Necaxa's recent struggles, the '1-0' victory over Puebla seems like me winning a basket weaving competition, impressive, but let’s face it, there wasn't much competition. At the same time, Toluca has been cutting through teams like a hot knife through butter. Their victories over Club America and Tigres UANL show they’re not here just for the tacos, they mean business.
A look back at their respective seasons does bring a wee bit of credit to Club Necaxa. They have a not completely terrible record, but then again, so does my niece’s high school team, and I don't see them competing at Liga MX any time soon. On the other hand, Toluca's track record – it's like a greatest hits compilation, more wins, fewer losses, near perfection if you ask me.
But, life and sports rarely play out as predicted (especially when I'm making them), but even a broken clock is right twice a day, am I right? So carving out any form of comfort for Club Necaxa feels akin to finding an ice cube in the Sahara.
Albert’s Prediction: Toluca by 2
