Barcelona by 1First things first, in the most recent dust-ups between these two teams, Barcelona has managed to hold the upper hand most of the time. It's like watching a cat play with a ball of yarn, except the yarn is Villarreal and the cat is a football club valued in the billions.
Moving onto the goalkeepers, Barcelona has the dynamic duo of Marc-André ter Stegen and Wojciech Szczęsny, both sporting ratings in the sevens. But don't break out your Barcelona flags just yet, folks, because Villarreal has Luiz Júnior with a 7.20 rating and a whopping 19 saves. Apparently, this guy thinks the goal is his personal no-fly zone.
In the top players department, Barcelona fields an impressive line-up including Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Pedri, amongst others. On the other hand Villarreal also has some guys who know their way around the pitch like Nicolas Pépé, Alejandro Baena, and Ayoze Pérez. But if I may say, the shooting stats of those Barca boys are like my ex-wife's poker tactics – utterly terrifying.
Season-wise, Barcelona, with 27 wins, is seated comfortably up there like the prettiest one at the prom, while Villarreal, with 18 wins, is more like the kid with the punch-stain on his shirt - good, but not dancing-queen good.
Even the recent results are coloring a sunny day at the beach with no clouds in sight for Barcelona. For Villarreal, it's the same beach, but probably with a raincloud or two hovering.
How fitting then, as we look over these numbers, that Barcelona is tipped to win with an edge so sharp, it could serve as a kitchen knife. So, the royalties can keep their portraits, because in the art of stat crunching, these pieces of information can paint quite a Picasso!
