Oh boy, this matchup is gonna be like watching a slow motion car crash. On one hand we've got Saski Baskonia sluggishly crawling their way through the season, barely making a blip on the radar at 14th position in the EuroLeague. Top players like Trent Forrest and Markus Howard definitely did their best out there, with Forrest this season racking up 9.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, while Howard showed serious grit with 12.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this season. However, even with Chima Moneke performing admirably with 14.6 points and 6.3 rebounds this season, I'm afraid it's not enough to salvage my confidence in this team.
On the other hand, strutting into the match like a peacock with more feathers than sense, we've got Anadolu Efes. Seated at the somewhat more respectable 9th place in the EuroLeague and fanning their feathers in the wind. Players like Elijah Bryant and Shane Larkin are showing serious gumption with Bryant pulling impressive 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on average in the past month and Larkin putting up 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the same timeframe. Add in Vincent Poirier with 10.5 points and 7.0 rebounds last month and we're seeing a well-rounded team in Efes.
When these two teams have clashed horns in the recent past, the resulting tussle has generally tipped in favor of Efes. And given Efes' recent winning streak in their matches, I'd say they're galloping in scot-free into this matchup, while Baskonia's rocking mixed results like an indecisive weatherman.
But look, as much as I enjoy teasing Efes' peacock strut, they've shown that they can stand their ground in the mix and have a solid shot at pulling off a win here. So, drumroll please...
Albert’s Prediction: Anadolu Efes by 9
