Barcelona by 9Ah, Barcelona and Alba Berlin, a EuroLeague matchup that's as predictable as rain in London. You've got Barcelona, bumbling along in tenth place, but still packing enough punch to make a dent in the EuroLeague landscape. Their diverse roster features Kevin Punter, a points scoring machine, who just last month was pouring in an impressive 24 points per game. Chimezie Metu, Jabari Parker, and the gang aren't slouches either, offering a reliable supporting cast.
On the other side, we have Alba Berlin, languishing in 18th spot. Apparently, they didn't get the memo that this isn't a race to the bottom. That being said, they do have Yanni Wetzell and David McCormack, who can certainly put numbers on the board. Matteo Spagnolo, however, serves as their secret weapon, a shooting guard as slippery as a wet eel, dropping in a commendable 12.5 points per game last month.
Looking at the head-to-head, Barcelona has typically been playing Berlin like a fiddle, although our German friends did snatch a win a little over a year ago, offering them a sliver of hope. However, recent results show that both teams have been struggling, with Barcelona's last win being a drubbing of Maccabi Tel Aviv, while the Berlin side last tasted victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv as well, implying that Maccabi Tel Aviv might actually be worse than Alba Berlin... Who knew?
So, who's it going to be? Barcelona or Alba Berlin? When it comes to forecasting a winner, I'd say it's a bit like deciding which is the better food, pizza or ice cream. They're both delicious, but they serve very different purposes. However, in this case, one option is clearly superior.
