AZ Alkmaar by 2In the Eredivisie showdown, we've got AZ Alkmaar squaring off against RKC Waalwijk. The match is intriguing, to say the least. No one likes a sure thing, do they? Maybe accountants and my dentist, but let's move on, no one's rating them for entertainment.
On the goalie front, Jeroen Houwen's been doing the rounds for RKC Waalwijk this season, maintaining a respectable average of 7.23 and 13 saves. Alkmaar, on the other hand, prop up young Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduro between the sticks, although his 6.67 rating isn't anything to text mom about.
RKC Waalwijk's most notable players? Mohamed Ihattaren's been fairly reliable, and Richonell Margaret isn't to be taken lightly either, with that commendable accurate passing percentage. Eh, let's toss Liam van Gelderen in there too.
As for AZ Alkmaar, take a gander at Ibrahim Sadiq and Zico Buurmeester, both enjoying more than a couple of celebrations after tickling the net. And the the trio wouldn't be complete without, Ernest Poku, who's knocked in a goal himself.
Those keeping tabs will remember the past bouts between these teams have been less ‘toe-to-toe’ and more ‘toe-to-nose’, if you get my drift. Alkmaar's given Waalwijk a firm nudge to the muck on several occasions.
Looking at the cold, uncaring numbers of the regular season, Waalwijk's taken quite a few spills, sitting at 4 wins, 5 draws and an unfortunate 16 losses. Alkmaar’s been faring quite a bit better, with a tally of 13 wins, 5 draws and just 7 losses.
And, sweet peachy pie, recent results haven't been kind to Waalwijk either. A woeful string of losses there, only somewhat offset by a surprise blowout against NAC Breda. Alaamar, standing on firmer ground, was even able to snag a few draws against formidable opponents.
So, strap on your seatbelt, windshield wiper your spectacles and pour a stiff drink. When all’s said and done, my money’s on AZ to take this one.
